History

The Aragon Robotics Team was founded by a small group of students back in the 2000-2001 school year. Founding members sought to establish a lasting FIRST team that would continue to grow and inspire students for years to come.

Team 840 first competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition for the first time in the 2001-2002 season. As a rookie team at the 2002 Silicon Valley Regional, Aragon Robotics won the Rookie All-Star Award. During the following years, Aragon Robotics continued to compete at the Silicon Valley Regional as well as the Western Region Robotics Forum (WRRF) CalGames, earning recognition in categories from the Industrial Safety Award to the Entrepreneurship Award.

In the 2011-2012 school year, Aragon Robotics exceeded expectations by qualifying for FRC World Championships at St. Louis after being invited at the Silicon Valley Regional by winning the Engineering Inspiration Award. In the 2013 season Aragon Robotics won the Central Valley Regional and got the opportunity to attend the world championship a second time.

The team decided to temporarily discontinue FRC in 2015, creating 2 new FTC teams in its place alongside FTC Team 4345, which was piloted in 2010 and first made state championships in 2014. From 2015 to 2018, Aragon Robotics competed in FTC only. By the 2018 season, we had three active FTC teams, 4345, 10148, and 10150. In Fall 2018, we decided to reinstate FRC 840 to accommodate a growing team.  In the 2019 and 2020 seasons, we have competed with two teams: FTC 4345 and FRC 840.
